We have put together a list of websites and activities that you may find useful to do with your children; some educational and some just for fun. We all know how difficult it can be to keep children entertained but we hope these may go some way to helping keep little minds busy.

Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service

We wanted to let you know what Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service is offering  to schools, families and parents at this current, challenging time.

Key Stage 1 – Welephant Club  - aimed at 4 to 8 year olds. Details are below.

Key Stage 2 – Safe + Sound  (events at fire stations are currently suspended and we will let you know when we start delivering again) We are currently developing a Virtual Safe+Sound to support children, families and parents to stay safe and sound at home.  Please watch this space for more details – we hope to have something ready to launch at the beginning of May.

Have you heard of the Welephant Club?

Free to join, the Welephant club offered by Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, provides fire safety and prevention activities to engage 4-8 year olds in topics including fire safety in the home, water safety and road safety.

Upon joining each member will receive a welcome pack full of activities and freebies, including a welcome newsletter to introduce them to the key characters and safety themes.

Members will also receive a quarterly newsletter enabling children to explore seasonal safety advice through activities, quizzes and games. We’ve attached our current newsletter so you can take a look.

We are keen to spread the word about the club as it could be of interest to parents looking for free activities to keep children occupied at home. Would this be something you would be willing to promote through your existing communication channels to parents? Any assistance you can give us with this would be greatly appreciated.

To quickly summarise, the Welephant Club is free for 4-8 year olds and each member will receive:

  • A welcome pack full of activities and freebies linked to key safety topics
  • A quarterly newsletter with seasonal safety advice and activities
  • A card on their birthday

Parents/guardians can register children for free at https://www.staffordshirefire.gov.uk/your-safety/young-people/the-welephant-club/
